As promised back in October, I am delighted to announce that we are going to Puglia, Italy, for this year’s event. We love this region of Italy. The location is Monopoli, some 37 miles from Bari airport. It is a small fishing town and holiday location with a wealth of old buildings, cafes, restaurants, bars in and around its many narrow streets and palazzos. There are several beaches in walking distance of the town if you wish a dip in the Adriatic!
Wendy & I have booked a recce visit for the end of March when we will endeavour to book an event venue and a bar/restaurant for the welcome dinner on the Friday 23rd. We would be very grateful if those that intend to take part could advise their intentions to me before the end of March so we are able to book appropriately sized locations for both events.

NB Monopoli is accessible by buses and trains froim the airport via Bari.
PS Some will be disappointed we are not going to Istanbul. After some thought and considering the potential chance of civil unrest we’ve settled on Plan B, a sleepy coastal town in Puglia.
BTW If you have not been to this part of Italy before I advise staying longer, hire a car and go on tour. The rich cultural history of the region is everywhere yet it is not overrun by tourists. The Italians keep their places, like their best wines for themselves. Visit places like, Alberobello (the Trulli village), Ostuni, Lecce Gallipoli and many interesting coastal locations. For this trip Wendy and I have booked 8 days and will be Matera before arriving in Monopoli and touring thereafter.
