Details & Registration
Gentlemen :
Saturday 14th November 2026 is the day when you will have the opportunity to participate in the 52nd UK National Spoofing Championship.
For the first time, the UK Championship will be held in the Cotswold-Adjacent town of Cheltenham, the most distant it has ever been held from The Hollywood Arms in Chelsea.
Here are the relevant details:
Date: Saturday 14 November 2026
Time: 12:00 midday registration, in time for a First Round Spoof-Off at 1:00 pm
Venue: The Bottle of Sauce pub, Ambrose Street, Cheltenham, GL50 3HL
Entry Fee: £50 (same as in 2025)
A Buffet Lunch with a variety of pizzas, burgers and salad will be provided prior to the repechage, along with a Memento of the Event.
By rail, Cheltenham is two hours from London and one hour from both Bristol and Birmingham, so most UK Spoofers should be able to participate without having to incur the expense of an overnight stay.
For your guidance, the Jockey Club have kindly agreed to lay on some entertainment on the Friday before, and on the Sunday after, the Event. This will involve a succession of knackered old nags stumbling around the local racecourse and crashing through a few low hedges, prior to engaging in their rendez-vous with fate in a nearby glue factory. Apparently some people find this spectacle exciting.
Rather more importantly, after lengthy negotiations the RFU have agreed to schedule their autumn games so that the England Rugby Team will be playing only the Japanese on 14th November and they have warranted that the potentially more vigorous contests against Australia and New Zealand will be played at Twickenham on the prior and subsequent weekends respectively. Most obliging.
